Because ear infections are so common,  owners very often attempt  to diagnose the condition themselves and  decide that  the cause is bacteria or yeast.  However, the condition may be caused by ear-mites.

Like all mites, they spread rapidly from dog to dog and if you have more than one dog in your home you will probably find that all your dogs are suffering from the same problem.   The treatment of ear mites – usually done best after consulting a Veterinarian, is quite a lengthy process.   It can take up to   three weeks during which time the prescribed medication is applied  every few days

The mites   will be clearly visible to the Veterinarian, who will be able to prescribe the appropriate medication that consists of a suitable insecticide.
